Strategic Thinking

Explore the fundamentals, and discuss innovative applications of  a dynamic skillset.

Group of People Working Together at a TableIn today’s constantly evolving world, the ability to think strategically has become a key leadership characteristic.  Strategic thinkers can generate new moves as circumstances change, or cut through the superficial to identify the significant. They can respond effectively when plans fall apart, and guide their organizations through opportunities and challenges.

Unlike the mechanical rigor of many strategic planning approaches, strategic thinking focuses on flexibility and improvisation.  In fact, the tools and concepts of strategic thinking can be applied to a tremendous range of management and professional activities, as well as to the daily challenges everyone faces.

Like any other skill, the ability to think strategically relies on developing a specific set of competencies through practice. With case reviews, facilitated discussions, simulations, and a suite of practical tools, this unique course offers an original approach to start you on that journey.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Know how to use the tools and concepts of strategy to address everyday issues and problems;
  • Understand the 5 key competencies for thinking strategically, and how they can be developed;
  • Understand the roles of risk, timing and innovation;
  • Be ready to apply practical tools for identifying optimal approaches and responses to novel situations.
