Work Engagement Workshop
Work Engagement: How to Make it Happen
This workshop develops ideas from my book with Arnold Bakker, Work Engagement: A Handbook of Essential Theory and Research. The objectives are to make the ideas in that book more accessible and to have an active dialog with leaders using these ideas. The workshop leads participants through developing a model program for promoting work engagement in their organizations. The course builds on an applied theory of employee motivation and fulfillment. It identifies risks associated with potential pitfalls of employees becoming over-extended or discouraged. The course considers the distinct challenges of tough economic conditions.
The Workshop Answers These Questions:
- What can I do today about employees' engagement with their work?
- Of all the things I could be doing, what would make the biggest difference?
- How do I know my plan is working?
- How to Tweak the Plan:
- Ongoing flow of information.
- The capacity for action.
- A bias toward action.
- What are the top ten mistakes organizations make when pursuing employee engagement?
- What are the distinct roles for leadership at the supervisory, management and executive levels?
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will become familiar with a clear definition of work engagement, its primary drivers, and its value for productivity and for employee fulfillment.
- Participants will be able to identify specific actions to enhance work engagement for themselves and for employees at their companies.
- Participants will be able to outline company strategies for enhancing work engagement.
