Establishing an Innovation Culture
Change is never simple.
Processes get adopted, adapted, and ingrained within our day-to-day duties and when those processes are challenged or changed, we naturally resist. But change is necessary – to improve, enhance, and to innovate. Understanding the necessity of change within your organization is key to establishing a culture of innovation that is critical for long-lasting business success.
Having an innovative culture – an environment where employees have the confidence and freedom to take risks, collaborate and leverage the strength of their team, and bring breakthrough products and services to the market – is a top priority for many business leaders. However, knowing how to design, develop and nurture this rare type of culture can be confusing and at times, overwhelming.
This two-day session will examine change and innovation within organizational teams from all angles. The course will give participants an opportunity to practice innovation techniques, through simulation and experiential learning, that will allow for immediate implementation in the workplace. Key questions about how to be more creative and innovative will be presented by various experts. Participants will also get a look into the psyche of team members and why change is such a large hurdle to overcome. Finally, the course will give an organizational overview of how an innovation culture can be achieved and how it will make a difference throughout your workplace.
Session 1 – ExperienceInnovation™ with ExperiencePoint
ExperienceInnovation™, built in collaboration with design consultancy IDEO, is an expert-guided innovation simulation that enables your people to build innovation confidence and competence. Participants emerge with foundational knowledge and real experience in design thinking that they can implement immediately to achieve innovative results within your organization.
Session 2 – Mindfulness as a Way to Innovation & Creativity with Dr. Parmjit Singh
Mindfulness is a meta-cognitive skill that has a definite role to play in establishing a culture of innovation and creativity within organizations. Its effectiveness in optimizing thinking and the creative process by reducing noise generated by human factors such as stress, anxiety, job pressures, personal challenges, and interpersonal conflicts is supported by evidence-based research. In this workshop, we introduce mindfulness as a valuable adjunctive skill in spurring and maintaining the creative process, identify the human factors that adversely impact innovation and explain how the brain works during creative and out-of-the-box thinking. Strategies helpful in optimizing these brain processes will also be presented.
