Data Security, Privacy and Cloud Computing in Mission Critical Systems: Lessons from Healthcare
This two-day course will provide attendees with a management orientation to critical issues in the area of data quality, security and privacy. Organizations face growing threats to data security and privacy from both internal and external sources. Leaders must ensure their organizations guard against such threats on multiple platforms and devices,by implementing strong defences, monitoring access and activity, applying effective policies and planning response and recovery. These topics will all be examined thoroughly.
With the emerging push to do “Everything in the Cloud”, the instructors will provide an overview of Cloud Computing and how it fits into the healthcare setting. Key topics examined include reliability for mission critical hospital systems, Security and Privacy Risks, Big Data and Analytics. Finally, appropriate structures for data governance and for responding to legislative obligations in the area of privacy and security protection will be modelled and discussed.
The instructor will use a variety of teaching modes, including case studies, to introduce the management responsibilities and strategic impacts of data issues. In particular, lessons will be drawn from the eHealth environment, where privacy and security are particularly significant.
